Hello friends,My life is a little surreal right now, but in the most wonderful way. After 20 years of practicing piano, piano and voice competitions, good old fashioned music lessons (mostly with my dear friend and musical mentor, Lynn Donald), and a couple of other little changes (bye bye, Mike) I have been signed by Highway 9 Records and am in the process of recording my debut album.
To say I’m excited is an understatement of historic proportions. All those hours stalking Sara Barielles and listening to old Etta James tunes may actually pay off! I try to be cool about it, but seriously… the super-duper put-together blue-eyed soul sister you see before you is still not too far removed from the nervous little girl waiting her turn at the recital. It’s a rush, and at the moment life is fast paced, sleep deprived, and hard charging. But I’m loving every minute of it, and dreaming my way forward.
My music is pretty much a reflection of me…a little wise beyond my years, a little sassy and a lot of guts. I like to say that I can make any song sound sultry but I am also happy to drop a cheesy nineties pop cover on you as well. I hope that whatever I play you will hear the joy and the strength that I am grooving around with these days, and that it will help you skip lightly forward through your day.
I am extremely grateful for all of the support I have from my friends and family and can’t wait for you all to hear my debut album due out later this summer, despite that phrase being almost ruined by that 5 Hour Energy Drink commercial. Please check back here on this site often, please come see me play (check out the events calendar on this site), and please comment/like/share any and everything on my fan page (links also on this site).
And if you’re really feeling froggy – challenge me with a song you’d like me to cover. Of course, you’ll have to come and see me play to see if I cover it. If I do, all I ask in return is a nice glass of cabernet and your fierce and undying devotion until the end of time. Trust me…this is a good deal for both of us.
Update ~ Highway 9 Records successfully completed Beth Ballinger’s project as of September 2013.
